You have no more excuses for not playing Twilight Struggle thanks to the Humble board game bundle

Get nuked!

No fluffy opening paragraph, no beating around the bush. If you are a fan of board games, this bundle is for you. The latest offering from Humble Bundle rightfully partners with Asmodee Digital to bring you some of the best board game adaptations on the market. The most important one being Twilight Struggle.

Whereas I've always been able to convince at least one person in my gaming group to try one run at some of my more mechanic-heavy games, I've still yet to convince anyone to play Twilight Struggle because of the time commitment and how complicated it is. Thankfully the digital adaptation of one of the most critically acclaimed board games to ever be made is also one of the best adaptations I've ever seen. It's so good that I don't need people to play against because the AI and mechanics are so well done that it almost effectively replaces a human counterpart. If you are at all a fan of history and area-of-control games, you owe it to yourself to play Twilight Struggle.

There's also a multitude of other great board games included in this bundle such as Pandemic and a personal favorite of mine, Splendor. There is no beat-the-average price for this so eight bucks will get you everything including a few Android versions.

If you purchase the dollar-or-more tier, you will receive the following games:

  • Abalone (PC/Android) - Abstract strategy game about knocking your opponents' marbles off the board using the physical property of inertia.
  • Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small (PC/Mac/Linux) - A broken-down version of the popular agriculture board game. This version is specifically made for two-people shorter games.
  • Harald: A Game of Influence (PC/Mac/Android) - Card-based game where you try to gain influence and be recognized by the King.
  • Colt Express (PC) - Card-based game where you try to steal more money from people riding a train than your opponents.
  • Le Havre: The Inland Port (PC/Mac/Linux) - Two-player game where you compete to build the best harbor using your buildings' abilities and money.

Finally, for the eight-dollars-and-over tier, you get the following:

  • Pandemic: The Board Game (PC/Mac) - You must work together to defeat a super virus that is wreaking havoc on the earth. This is a recent adaptation that seemingly has some issues but maybe that's why it's in here.
  • Pathfinder: Adventures (PC/Mac) - The famous Pathfinder mechanics transposed into a card game. It's made by Obsidian so that's a good sign.
  • Splendor (PC/Android) - Economic game where you buy gems and try to gain the favor of nobles to amass victory points.
  • King and Assassins (PC/Android) - Asymmetrical action point game where you either control the King or the mob that wants him dead.
  • Fighting Fantasy Legends (PC/Mac) - Based on the RPG series, this card-based adventure game allows you to play three of the popular gamebooks.
  • Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal (PC/Mac) - Sequel to the aforementioned game that was just released in July of this year.
  • Small World 2 (PC/Mac/Linux/Android) - Area-of-control game where you combine abilities to create a faction bent on controlling the all-too-small world.
  • Twilight Struggle (PC/Mac) - One of the best board games I've ever played, this is a two-player card-based recreation of the Cold War that uses area of control and hand management mechanics to decide who will be the victor or if the world goes down in nuclear flames.
