Yoshi's New Island gets a pleasant arrangement for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Not a kazoo in sight

When Yoshi's New Island was released more than four years ago, one of the most common complaints that reviewers and players had was in regards to the soundtrack. In particular, the heavy usage of kazoos for almost every single track. Luckily for everyone, the new arrangement of the main theme that will be included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate does not feature a single one.

You can listen to the upbeat arrangement below.

The new arrangement was worked on by Shota Kageyama, who is no stranger to working on the soundtracks for the Super Smash Bros. franchise. His first role with Nintendo was contributing four arrangements to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Afterwards, he worked with Game Freak and was part of the music team on various Pokémon games from HeartGold/SoulSilver to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, as well as contributing to Super Smash Bros. 4. Shota left afterwards to become a freelance composer, however he has worked on music for Pokkén Tournament as well as the upcoming Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee.

Another fun fact is that this isn't the first time Shota has done a new arrangement for a song from the Yoshi franchise. One of the pieces he contributed for Brawl was "Obstacle Course," a track from the first Yoshi's Island game. You can check it out below.
