Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a surprising Xbox Series X launch game

With Smart Delivery support

Of all the games I expected to see show up during today's Xbox Series X gameplay reveal event, Yakuza: Like a Dragon sure wasn't one of them. Talk about a pleasant surprise! The maniacal RPG has been out in Japan (on PS4) since January, but we've been waiting for a Western release. Recently, a Steam database entry popped up, suggesting we'd hear something about the localization sooner than later.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon "will be available as part of the Xbox Series X launch slate as well as Xbox One and Windows 10," according to series director Toshihiro Nagoshi, who added that fans should check out "Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's latest effort to push the limits of video games." We will. Oh, we will.

A big point about Smart Delivery worth stressing for Yakuza (or any game with a beefy run time): there's cross-save support between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions. That'll be a godsend here.

Following the Inside Xbox show, Sega reached out to confirm that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will simultaneously release on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam in the West.
