It’s been a long time coming, but Microsoft will be releasing the XNA Game Studio 3.0 development tool on October 30. The tool will be made available to the US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, and Spain and hits almost three weeks ahead of the New Xbox Experience.
When the XNE launches, many expect the Xbox Live Community Games Channel to be included, which has been described as “Youtube for videogames.” Users will be able to upload their own XNA-created titles and reap 70% of the revenue. Ska Studios’ terrific looking The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai is an example of the kind of titles being made using MS’ new developer tool.
Microsoft is hoping that indie developers will convert their work with XNA in time for the launch of the New Xbox Experience. I am hoping that they don’t seriously expect us to buy Jelly Car.
