Wiimote MXPlay plugin

Do you sway in your car seat when a cool tune is on the radio? Me too, those damn songs are embarrassingly catchy. Ever since I saw the WiiJ video I’ve wanted an easy way to control my music in a new way, although the MXPlay plugin probably wouldn’t be safe to try while driving:

“With the WiiMote plugin you can control the AudioSpace in MXPLAY. Spatially remix your music – roll, flick or pitch your WiiMote and watch/hear the effects in MXPLAY. The plugin requires a Wiimote and a PC with Bluetooth wireless.”

Watch the video and you’ll get an idea of what the heck they’re talking about. Basically, instead of adjusting the volume higher or lower on a one dimensional number line, you get to change the audio’s two dimensional distance from a center point. The center point being Nintendo’s giant pile of cash.

For a complete guide on rocking and rolling the Wiimote, check out this graphical instructions page. Which is an upgrade from the only instructions we’ve gotten from Nintendo so far. Now we just need to someone to hack Guitar Hero to play with these spatial controls. If you thought watching people fidget around on a DDR dance pad was funny, then three dimensional DDR arm waving Wiimote controls would be hilarious to witness in action. And dangerous.
