Y2K playtesting being live tweeted right now

Recommended Videos

We first heard about Y2K last year, when comparisons to Takashi Marukami, PersonaDavid O’ReillyEarthBound, and other surprises were immediately laid upon the title. Pretty weird stuff, but after talking to the two brothers creating the game, I thought that I had a firm handle on how strange Y2K might turn out to be.

If these live tweets from Cassandra Khaw of  describing an early build of the game are anything to go by, I clearly had no idea how deep the Y2K rabbit hole could go. I’m not sure what that bearded man is doing on a bus next to that panda fella, but it definitely feels like something serious is going on. Apparently that bearded man’s mom is Jesse from Pokemon, and he feels that late 1990s computers are his safe place. He’ll be in need of one soon enough, in no small part because of a cat with a Salvidor Dali mustache who is a “homicidal ass” and a thief. He’s stolen something from the man with the beard and taken off with it into an attractive overworld. Notice how big the cat has become in the overworld. Even more reason not to trust him. Also, Persona 4 gas station

From the sounds of it, this preview build of Y2K will be available to the press soon. We’ll do our best to get you a full report on it as soon as we can.
