Ever considered what LeChuck’s Revenge would look like if it was created using the same engine the visual powerhouse title Cryis uses? At least one guy has. Hannes Appel is doing the silly -- and absolutely awesome -- right now: he’s making a Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge level using CryEngine 2. Below the fold is a brief cinematic trailer he made that showcases the classic 2D adventure game with scrumptious 3D and beautiful modeling stuff.
Appel has a Web site and a few more videos for this project, as well as few screenshots, details, and programming notes. He also has a gaggle of other projects that may or may not tickle your fancy. One caveat: the rest of his stuff isn’t strictly games-related, but the man does love CryEngine 2.
This video (and a few of his others) has appeared on the Internet before, so please don’t have a heart attack in the rush to type “OLD!” in the comments. We just thought the video was too cool not to share and we agree with the sentiment: MI in 3D totally rocks.
[Thanks, Sam!]
