Weekend Scraps: What was I doing again?

Scraps

I’m having one of those nights where I’m finding it hard to get anything done. The work is piling up around me and I can’t even work up the motivation to procrastinate. You know what helps me get through those times?

Damn. I was hoping you’d have the answer because I don’t have a freaking clue.

Anyway, some stuff happened over the weekend that we didn’t talk about. I know, I know. We promised that we’d never keep secrets from each other, but we just didn’t think these things would be important to you. Maybe we were wrong. Let’s find out, shall we?

  • Plot details for Stuart Beattie’s Halo screenplay have come to light. Sounds a fair bit like Ender’s Game for kids without intellectual aspirations to me. [Kotaku]
  • Maligned Star Wars Galaxies developer, Jeff Freeman, committed suicide late last week. I’m not going to make a Star Wars joke. Condolences to his family don’t jive well with force-related humor. [GamePolitics]
  • GTA-styled MMO, APB, has moved into the “closed internal beta” phase of development. [Edge]
  • Now that they’ve failed to acquire Take-Two, is Epic the next target of EA? I would expect yearly Unreal Tournament releases if that’s the case. [GameGuru]
