Want to play The Elder Scrolls Online for free?

Here's everything you need to know

Always fancied giving The Elder Scrolls Online a try but haven't yet been able to commit? Here's hoping you have some free time this weekend as Bethesda is giving you the chance to try before you buy.

From Thursday, December 10 until Monday, December 14, 2015, you'll be able to download the full game client and sample the game on PC/Mac or Xbox One (or both, I guess).

For Xbox One you'll need a live Gold subscription, and from 3am PST you'll be able to download The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited client for free.

For PC/Mac you can download the game for free now, but you'll need a Free Play Weekend code from a friend to unlock the game this weekend. Once you have one, sign up at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com, redeem, and off you go.

If you like what you see and fancy picking up the game, you can pick it up for 60% off, and enter Bethesda's $1 million giveaway. And yes, any progress made will be retained after your trial. Happy happy joy joy.

If you're a PlayStation 4 owner, worry not. Though there's nothing concrete yet, Sony says it hopes to have a similar offer on the PS4 "in the near future."

Let me know if this trial tempts you!
