Vogster has announced that its gang-based shooter MMO for PC, CrimeCraft, will ship on August 25, 2009.

Actually, no wait — it’s not an MMO. Now, Vogster is calling it a “Persistent World, Next-gen Shooter, or “PWNS,” for short. No, that’s not something I just made up. That’s on them.

Cringe-worthy genre names aside, CrimeCraft actually does look pretty slick. We had a chance to look at the game a few times, once hands-on and another in an extensive interview at this year’s GDC. It’s an interesting mix of third-person action and traditional role-playing and online gaming elements, one that could pay off for Vogster if executed right.

Of course, the game’s in closed beta right now — you can sign up for that over at the game’s official site. If you get in, you’re probably bound by an NDA, but feel free to whisper stuff in our direction about your experiences.
