During yesterday’s Summer Game Fest Kick-Off! show, developer Sharkmob gave us a blood-stained, action-packed trailer for its upcoming battle royale title set within the gothic universe of Vampire: The Masquerade, Blood Hunt.

Throwing its fangs into the Last Vampire Standing genre, Blood Hunt will see the creatures of the night wreak havoc over the streets of Prague, battling it out in faction-based warfare in efforts to become the true lords of twilight as vampiric sects take on strike teams from a secret society of vampire hunters known as “The Entity”.

Much like other battle royale titles, our anti-heroes will be kitted out with a selection of high-power weaponry and other gadgets. Very unlike other battle royale titles, however, our nightwalkers will be armed with an array of supernatural abilities, allowing players to gain an edge over the opposition with sweet stealth mechanics, physics-defying acrobatics, and even teleportation abilities. Nothing personal, kid.

Players will be able to customize their characters to create the most stylish bloodsucker on the block — so you can at least be hot af as you pepper your enemies with lead and magical projectiles. Sharkmob has been quick to note that while Blood Hunt will feature aesthetic DLC, there will be absolutely no “Pay to Win” mechanics, with the team staying loyal to its player-focused ethos.

Of course, the battle royale genre is hardly starving for new entries. This is a fact that several pretenders to the throne have since discovered. But given the cult popularity of the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop game, as well as the unique nocturnal take on the genre, maybe Blood Hunt can find a dedicated audience who like their multiplayer shooters a little on the sinister side. At least it will help bridge the gap until the launch of the troubled Bloodlines 2.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Blood Hunt is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam later this year. Sign-ups are now live for a closed beta, which is scheduled to launch July 2.
