Vagina-based shooter Privates ‘too sexual’ for Xbox 360

Zombie Cow’s vaginal shooter Privates has been deemed “too sexual” for the Xbox 360 by the powers-that-be at Microsoft. Sadly, the game itself was funded in part by Britain’s Channel 4 as it’s supposed to be quite educational as well as amusing. Education on the 360? Microsoft can’t let that stand!

Privates — a game in which little men run-and-gun inside various sexy parts — can be played for free online, and was due for release on the Xbox Live Indie Games channel. Unfortunately, Microsoft advised that the game wouldn’t pass peer review, and thus Zombie Cow pulled the game.

“They’ve been really supportive and helpful throughout,” explains Zombie Cow’s Dan Marshall, “but ultimately have advised that the game wouldn’t pass the Indie Games Peer Review process, purely due to its inherently sexual nature.”

I think it’s very disturbing that we have a culture where deplorable violence is considered normal entertainment, but sex — something that nearly everybody does, and is supposed to be incredibly normal — is treated like something freakish and wrong. I don’t know how human society got into a situation where violence is considered more tame and acceptable than sex, but doesn’t that strike anybody else as just a little bit screwed up?
