Watch as we fall off the edge of our seats waiting in anticipation for Ubisoft to reveal more information on the Heroes games, based on the NBC series, they announced in 2007. Well, it turns out they’re no longer happening, and we can give our butts a rest.
According to MTV Multiplayer, Ubisoft has confirmed that the company is no longer publishing the Heroes videogame.
“The rights to the Heroes videogame have reverted back to NBC Universal,” Ubisoft’s public relations director Jaime Cottini told Multiplayer. “Ubisoft will not longer produce a videogame based on the TV series.”
The game was original slated for release last this year, and to be honest, I had forgotten all about it. I’m kind of glad Ubisoft has, too. Having recently picked up a copy of the Lost game on Goozex, the thought of another Ubisoft game based on a television series I actually liked gave me cramps.
It’s unclear whether work on the game had begun, and if another publisher will poke their head in and pick up the rights. It’s possible that the premise of Heroes (regular people with extraordinary abilities) could translate well to a videogame — is there anyone out there still holding out hope?
