The last time we saw No Man’s Sky, we had a cheerier outlook. It was all about diplomacy and trading and making new alien friends. That all sounds great. There’s an entire universe out there and new opportunities await.

Unfortunately, new dangers await too. As this trailer starkly reminds us, there’s no shortage of things in No Man’s Sky that pose a threat. Heat, cold, radiation, angry drones — the list goes on. Heck, there might be less suffering if you just let a dinosaur step on you.

This game about exploration is very much about survival too. You’ll have to find a way to strike a balance between them. Whatever the point to No Man’s Sky is, chances are you won’t accomplish it laying on the ground in the fetal position.
