Long-term readers may have noticed by now that I’ve developed rather a thing for Gamecock as a publisher. The company’s consistently brash and anarchic attitude when dealing with the games industry at large, and self-appointed mission to find and release only the most interesting indie projects around won them my attention months ago. Without any real gameplay footage to show for themselves though, it’s been a slightly uneasy situation whenever I’ve praised them, the threat of eventual disappointment always lingering and forcing me to hold back on the superlatives.
Now however, I feel I can breath more easily, as the first gameplay footage of horror FPS Dementium: The Ward has arrived, and very impressive it is too. What we appear to have here is a very slick, very atmospheric, and potentially very creepy DS game. Developer Renegade Kid has been saying for a while that it intends to seriously push the hardware with this game, and if the final product ends up a looking as good as this, there will no accusations of failure from me. And if the gameplay turns out to match the graphics, I’ll have a very happy DS indeed.
