The Question: is Metal Gear Solid 5 necessary?

[Every Friday, Destructoid will pose topical a question to the community. Answer it if you want!]

Last night, we heard that — perhaps unsurprisingly — Metal Gear Solid 5 is on the cards. Not long after the news dropped, I was asked by several people whether I felt the sequel was necessary and I figured I’d send the question along to you lot.

Metal Gear Solid 4 wrapped up a lot of plot threads, while leaving several doors open. Some feel it was the perfect way to end Snake’s story, and that if we must have more Metal Gear, the least Hideo Kojima could do is take the series to another part of the universe. Others just can’t get enough of that MGS flavor and are happy to see more.

Personally, I don’t think MGS4 ended on quite a satisfying enough note for me to be happy with its bookend status. A lot felt unresolved and I’m willing to see where MGS5 could take the series. What about you, though? Do you want Kojima to leave it alone, or are you thrilled to hear there’s more?
