Finishing in style, today’s Nintendo Direct closed out with a brief trailer and a release date for the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The exciting follow-up to the widely loved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch on Nintendo Switch May 12, 2023.

The evocative new trailer, which you can check out below, begins with some traditional wall carvings, instantly recognizable as belonging to the Zelda universe. These solemn images then transition to a short but breathtaking clip, that sees our indelible hero, Link, as he barrels through an ornate pair of double doors and freefalls into the great beyond. We are then presented with some short snippets of world-traversing action before the trailer concludes with its warming new logo and title. Very exciting.
