The ‘GamePad’ is a 7″ Android device with buttons

Archos, a self described “pioneer” in Android tablets, has just unveiled a new 7-inch Android 4.0 slate device with a dual core 1.5GHZ processor called the “GamePad”. Yea yea, yet another Android device hits the market — no big deal right?

Well, it does sport some very cool features, such as 8GB of internal storage with the option to up it by 64GB with a micro-SD card, a mini-HDMI connector for TV-out, and the fact that it supports both touch and button-based control methods.

Even if this thing flops, you have to admit that it’s a pretty impressive piece of hardware. In fact, the first two of the three afforementioned features absolutely should have been on the Vita.

Archos has stated that they have worked tirelessly to have the physical controls integrate nicely with old Android games (reportedly the app count is over 1,000), which thankfully is much better than launching it with only a scant few games.

Now that the secret is out, the mystery still remains: successful Android device or Nubageddon 2.0? I bet you can’t wait to find out!
