The Dark Spire: new screens and music samples

Recommended Videos

Remember our preview of The Dark Spire? We said it was pretty badass in a retro, ball-busting way. Since then I’ve spent a lot more time with the dungeon crawling RPG, and have died a lot more times, too. Seriously, you have no idea.

Atlus sends along some new screenshots that show the difference between the “Classic” and “Modern” game modes of The Dark Spire. As we’ve said before, you can change the visual modes on the fly, with the Classic mode resembling the wire-framed games of old. Even though the underlying game is the same, the look changes drastically (see image above).

Atlus says in a fan mailer that this “game is, for all intents and purposes, a love letter to those classic first-person dungeon crawlers of old: TITLE OMITTED FOR LEGAL REASONS, TITLE OMITTED FOR LEGAL REASONS, and TITLE OMITTED FOR LEGAL REASONS.”

Ha! We know which ones you’re talking about.

Also be sure to check out some of the audio samples from the soundtrack CD that will be included with the game.

Well, I’m about to jump back in. Old school, bitches.
