Japanese studio Historia has announced that it is bringing its strange and sinister sci-fi sequel The Caligula Effect 2 to PC next month. Already available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, the “Academy Juvenile RPG” will be available to purchase via Steam and the Epic Games Store from June 23.

For those less inclined, The Caligula Effect 2 is the follow-up to the 2016 PS Vita original, and details the exploits of a party of fresh-faced teens known as “The Go-Home Club.” These kids are trapped within the unnervingly idyllic walls of “Redo” an alternate universe where all of your regrets are undone, your mistakes rectified, and your high school years played out in perpetuity, sans any end-of-day bell.

Explore the “perfect world” of Redo, befriend your fellow denizens, learn of their true selves and pasts, and you’ll soon begin to understand why it’s the flaws, mistakes, and errors of judgment that, ultimately, make us who we truly are.

On PlayStation and Switch, The Caligula Effect 2 launched to mixed reviews, (airing mostly on the positive side). While many critics and players enjoyed the sequel’s premise, combat, world, and cast of characters, some found that the sequel fell into the typical JRPG pitfalls of featuring too much narrative padding and an emphasis on The Grind in regards to its dungeon crawling.

The Caligula Effect 2 launches June 23 on PC (via Steam and EGS). It is available now on PS4 and Switch.
