Telltale’s CTO, Kevin Bruner, is all about thinking outside the norm when it comes to videogames. While the rest of the industry is focused on the games you’ve come to expect, Telltale is going to take on “unusual properties and interesting things that are outside of what the rest of the industry is willing to take on.”

Telltale’s sixth year anniversary is coming up, and it’s reached a point where it can start taking on even more creative projects. Its new Pilot Program series will allow it to “do even weirder things and put them out as pilots.” Kevin goes on to say that “When we started [the Pilot Program], we really wanted to make games that just couldn’t be published in any other way. So we’ve got an enormous amount of creative energy floating around the studio right now. The Pilot Program is our way of providing an outlet for that. We’ve been kicking around ideas like this for a very long “

This all goes back to why Telltale was formed when some of the team left LucasArts. “The kind of games that we wanted to make [are those that] traditional publishers weren’t really interested in, like Sam & Max. Trust me, if we didn’t publish it ourselves, nobody else was going to.”

The first in the Pilot Program series is Puzzle Agent and I have to agree with Kevin. Telltale is the only company that would ever try to push out a game such as this.
