Survey: 30% of Japanese gamers regret 3DS early adoption

0

Back in June, a survey of Japanese gamers showed that hesitation to adopt Nintendo's 3D handheld was, in most part, due to the system's price tag. According to a new survey, however, it seems Nintendo just can't win. It turns out that lowering the price to appease one set angers the other.

Conducted by Japanese gaming site 4Gamer (translated by freelancer Daniel Feit), the survey found that 30% of current 3DS owners regret their purchase and are not satisfied with their status as a "3DS Ambassador." As expected, Nearly 50% of those polled find the current line-up of games to be inadequate.

As a day one 3DS owner, I can't say that the price cut really angered me that much. I bought the system for full price because I wanted it; no one made me do it. The 20 free games we're receiving (and the fact that I can call myself an Ambassador...FINALLY) is just a bonus.

Nintendo has definitely dropped the ball in regards to the 3DS, there's no denying that, but you can't help but feel bad for them...just a little bit. One can only hope that this reduced price in conjunction with the incoming software will be enough to make up for the last 4 months disappointing hardware sales.
