People love Mario. Japanese gamers made that clear this week as the debut of Super Mario Collection: Special Pack. This re-release of Mario goodness in celebration of Mario’s 25th anniversary outsold everything this past week in Japan. Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Vanquish and even Pokemon Black/White were beat out by this Wii release, which sold over 300,000 copies in a week, October 18th through 24th.

This release likely sold well because it’s limited, and it comes with a lot of games for a low price. For about $30 you’re getting a Wii disc of what amounts to Super Mario All-Stars. It also comes with a book, stickers and a soundtrack that has a bit of everything Mario on it, from the beginning all the way up to Super Mario Galaxy 2. Knowing this, who would have passed on it?

Go Nintendo has the rest of the game sales rankings for the week.
