Revenant took out Forge in Apex Legends

Doomed from the start

Respawn Entertainment just went ahead and killed off Forge, an unlikable big lug planned for Apex Legends Season 4, so that Revenant a freaky skeletal robot can bask in the spotlight again.

The promo site for Assimilation, the fourth season, now reads: "RIP Jimmie 'Forge' McCormick."

Fans have been expecting Revenant's arrival ever since they spotted the rumored character in 2019, but Respawn recently subverted expectations by announcing Forge instead. Now we know his true purpose.

Between data-mined info dumps and straight-up leaks, the studio has struggled to genuinely surprise tuned-in Apex Legends players. This stunt was no exception, but I appreciate the effort all the same.

When Season 4 of Apex Legends begins on February 4, it'll bring a "mysterious Legend," the bolt-action Sentinel sniper rifle, another Battle Pass to finish, Ranked Series 3, and "much more."

Something tells me Forge's story isn't over yet. People like mocking him too much for him to disappear.
