Cut 25% off Pillars of Eternity prior to Thursday's launch

Obsidian fans take note

On Thursday, March 26, Obsidian Entertainment's new RPG Pillars of Eternity releases on PC for $44.99. Pre-ordering before launch will not only get you a few in-game digital bonuses, but you can save about $11.25 off the MSRP if you grab it through select retailers.

Beyond the Green Man Gaming VIP deal, you can also net it for 25% off at DLGamer, or 13% off at GamesRocket and 10% off Direct2Drive (we're not sure why you'd pay more but these are the only authorized retailers with deals on the game as of writing).

There are three specific editions of the game, with the Hero, Champion, and Royal Edition priced at $44.99, $50.99, and $89.99, respectively. Find a breakdown of the differences below.

Pillars of Eternity Deals:
  • GMG VIP deal starts at $33.74 (equivalent 25% off for other editions)
  • DLGamer is $33.74 after coupon DLG-AURIALAP
  • GamesRocket starts at $35.49 (13% off for all editions)
  • Direct2Drive is $40.49 after mailing list sign up (offer pops up here)

Hero, Champion, and Royal Editions Compared

If all you want to do is play the game, don't get too bogged down by the details of the various editions. Essentially the higher-end versions are mainly for fans interested in digital extras, like the MP3 soundtrack and the lore of a digital novel. The Hero Edition is just the base game. For the other two, here's what you'll be getting:

Champion Edition:

  • Digital Soundtrack
  • Campaign Almanac
  • Making of Documentary
  • High Resolution Game Map
  • Wallpapers
  • A Ringtone

Royal Edition:

  • Everything in the Champion Edition
  • Digital Novella by Chris Avellone
  • Collector's Book PDF
  • Hi Res Concept Art
  • Digital Strategy Guide
  • More Ringtones
