It has now been one month since Valve’s impressive Steam Deck technology hit the consumer market. This weekend, Valve published a new blog post offering a breakdown of the handheld PC’s launch period as well as its early integration into the console gaming market.

In addition to these statistics, Valve also released a new video, (which you can check out below), that focuses on some of the Steam Deck’s post-launch updates, new features, and future targets.

First and foremost, Valve notes that over 2000 titles have passed Steam Deck’s verification process. That is to say, over 2000 games have officially been confirmed “Verified or “Playable” on Steam Deck, though performance will, of course, be subjective to the power of the owner’s chosen model.  Valve expresses its intent to continue “charging through” Steam’s catalog in order to get as many games registered for the Steam Deck as soon as it is realistically able.

In addition to the verification process, Valve is currently working to optimize the Steam Store dashboard to provide a slicker experience for users. The publisher is also looking into the implementation of Anti-Cheat technology for supported titles and is investigating better integration of Microsoft Edge on the platform, which will allow for the streaming of Xbox Game Pass releases. Tweaks have also been made to improve the console’s digital keyboard, and Valve remains committed to improving battery life — which currently holds at around two-to-eight hours, depending on its usage.

One element not mentioned pertains to when pre-order customers can expect to get the durn thing in their mitts. Last week, Valve noted that it is ramping up its production numbers, and is expecting orders for Q2 2022 to roll out at a much faster pace than Q1. If your delivery is in the Q2 bracket, log on to the official Steam Deck page and stay tuned for updates as to when your black box is en route.
