You know that part of Steam called the Community? Right now, it has some interesting information, like what games your friends are playing and screenshots they have taken. It’s not really used frequently because it’s not that easy to get around in it.
This will soon be changing, hopefully. Valve has announced today that they are planning on a major update for the Steam Community. They are not giving us all the information at once — that would be too easy. Over the next four days, they’ll be highlighting a different feature. Today, they unveiled Game Hubs. Game Hubs will be pages for every game that will feature community content about that game. This will be an easy place to go for the top mods, screenshots, videos, forum posts, articles, podcasts, and who knows what else about that game. Community members will get to vote on everything on the hub, so the best content will rise to the front page.
This is a much-needed change for Steam. The current community page is boring, and completely underused. As PC gamers, we pretty much all use Steam, and anything that will make it easier for us to connect and talk about games and share our stories is a great thing.
