Final Fantasy XIII is almost upon its Japanese release date after six years, and Square “eyes bigger than its belly” Enix is already pondering the prospect of delicious downloadable content for its long-awaited RPG. If any DLC does arrive, there would be no story expansions, with producer Yoshinori Kitase stressing that anything added would be gameplay only.

“We are exploring the option of downloadable content, perhaps adding new areas, items or enemies, but these would not be expansions to the story, only the gameplay,” he explains. “The entire story of FFXIII will be on the disc.”

That’s great. However, perhaps the team needs to finish work on Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII first before thinking about downloadable content. Just an idea.
