Splatoon 2's final content update will arrive next week

I feel strangely melancholy

I didn't particularly ask to become a dedicated reporter of the weapons, gear, and splatfests that arrived in Nintendo's messy arena-shooter Splatoon 2. It just sort of happened. The next thing you know, I was dropping the weekly weapon updates and reporting on global fights about toilet paper, it was the path Pearl chose for me, I guess.

Regardless, it's with a strangely heavy heart I announce that next week's Splatoon 2 update, Version 4.3.0, will be the multiplayer game's final batch of new content. Arriving on Wednesday, December 5, the new patch will bring new weapons - as well as revised skills for those currently being used - to paint the town red, green, pink and yellow.

Version 4.3.0 brings with it four new weapons, the Ballpoint Splatling Nouveau, the Nautilus 79, the Custom Exsplosher, and the beautifully-monikered Bloblobber Deco. These additions complete both the Kensa Collection and the Splatoon 2 arsenal. You can find out more details in the video below, starring Splatoon's passionate producer Hisashi Nogami.

Still, fear not, squid kids. This may be the end of an era, but Nintendo has said that balance patches and the ever-popular splatfests will continue until at least the Summer of 2019, so Splatoon 2 still has lots of inky goodness left.
