“Big Jack want MEAT,” indeed!
Shoot First is an action-y rougelike, which probably sent a good number of you packing. Whatever, y’all just lost your geek cred! Where it differs from most other free, independent rouglikes — of which there area bunch in circulation — is how you attack.
Instead of swinging a pixelated sword, you wield a gun. I have to admit, picturing a treasure hunter running through dungeons with modern-day weapons makes me giggle. As you might expect, randomized levels and the high potential for nigh-unbeatable scenarios are present here.
If you can talk someone into playing with you, go right ahead — Shoot First supports two-person co-op play. My only complaint at this time has to do with the default controls, which are a little on the wonky side. Even still, it’s worth a download.
