Sony not commenting on PS3 price drop rumors for next year

It all started when D+Pad brought us what was said to be leaked information from Sony’s Annual Staff Briefing. Along with some details on upcoming games like Uncharted 2, SCEE President David Reeves supposedly took the stage and said that they would be more competitive in price from March 2009 onwards. D+Pad guesses at a March price drop, targeted to hit alongside Killzone 2.

On top of this, they say that Reeves mentioned upcoming “technical innovations” coming to both the PS3 and PSP, though no details were listed.

Sony has dismissed this report as as “rumour and speculation,” says GamesIndustry

It still sounds like a solid rumor to us. I totally get waiting until after Christmas to drop the price, and working something to go alongside Killzone 2′s release also makes a lot of sense.
