Sledgehammer's founders have left the studio but are staying with Activision

Moving on up

One of Activision's three major Call of Duty studios is getting a big shake-up. Sledgehammer Games, the developer that helmed both Advanced Warfare and WWII, has lost its figureheads.

As Kotaku reports (and Activision has confirmed), Sledgehammer co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey have left the studio. The move happened a few weeks ago -- likely over a slow transitional period -- but it's just coming to light today. Activision says both Schofield and Condrey are staying with the parent company, as they're assuming executive positions within the publisher.

Aaron Halon has been tasked as the man who's taking over the leading position at Sledgehammer. Halon was another of the studio's founding members, so he has been with the company for a long time. Also, Sledgehammer is at the back of the Treyarch / Infinity Ward / Sledgehammer cycle of Call of Duty games right now, so everyone should have enough time to get acclimated to the change in leadership.
