Shadowrun is now on Xbox One via backward compatibility

Cross-play between Xbox 360, PC, and Xbox One

Shadowrun was a curious case of a shooter with impressive ideas that had a half-baked execution. I remember being ecstatic that there was finally a PC and Xbox 360 cross-play title, but the results were that PC users ended up getting the short end of the stick. Aside from higher resolutions, the controls had heavy mouse acceleration and auto-aim to keep things in line with console players. It felt pretty damn sluggish and had some sketchy performance (at launch, at least).

I've also never been a fan of the lack of a campaign mode. I know multiplayer was the main intention, but all of those cool powers felt wasted in a typical deathmatch. The map design was severely lacking and the game basically played like a slowed-down Team Fortress. It wasn't a lot of fun, but having a campaign could have put those special abilities to use.

The game has earned a bit of a cult following over the years, however, and it looks like those people won't need to hold onto their 360s any longer. Announced through Twitter, Shadowrun is now playable on Xbox one via backward compatibility. This game also comes along with Space Ark and Shotest Shogi, but I've never heard of those games.

I'm curious to know if owning the PC version will give you access on Xbox One. I highly doubt that, but it would be a cool little incentive for people with the PC DVD. Then again, you could just run it on PC and probably get better performance on even a modern microwave.
