Samurott joins Pokémon Scarlet & Violet in this week’s 7-Star Raid Event

It’s gonna bug you

Ever since the fateful Pikachu celebration, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have been on a tear with event content. We just finished a sweet and easy Blissey raid that ran concurrently with the fight against Decidueye, and already our next 7-Star challenge is on the horizon.

Via the official Japanese Pokemon Twitter account, Samurott will join Paldea from March 31st to April 2nd. These dates are based on UTC, so the event will go live by 8:00pm Eastern Time on March 30th. Samurott continues the tradition of introducing a starter from a previous game as a 7-Star event, this time giving Generation 5 some love. As usual, you’ll only be able to catch one Samurott while the encounter is live. Of course, you can continue to run the fight to help friends and farm materials.

Samurott will feature the Bug Tera Type, giving us early insight into what Pokemon will work best as counters. Flying-Type Pokemon should excel here, as they are effective against bugs while taking neutral damage from Water-Type attacks. Samurott will almost assuredly be a physical attacker, as it can’t learn any Bug-Type moves that scale with Special Attack. That said, it could be a mixed attacker similar to Greninja. We won’t know for sure until the event goes live.

If you can’t challenge Samurott, the encounter will rerun the following week from April 7th to April 9th. Walking Wake and Iron Leaves will also return soon, so stay tuned as we learn more about the upcoming event schedule for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
