Rollercoaster Tycoon: The next crazy game-based movie

It’s the movie we’ve all been dying to see: Rollercoaster Tycoon.

According to Reuters, Sony Pictures Animation is picking up the rights from Atari. What kind of project will this be, you ask? It’s described as a “live-action/CGI hybrid.” The guy who directed the impending Karate Kid remake, Harald Zwart, is on as executive producer.

The games were always a bunch of fun, and I can see how someone could go about turning them into an animated movie. But like Asteroids, I have to ask, did the world really need this to happen? Really?

I pray that they go all out with this film and include that one roller coaster with the loop — y’know, the one that’ll send the train flying off the rails if the speed is set to high. Or if the creators are going more for a Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 vibe, there’s always this.
