Rocket League has a busy spring, including making the Switch version look better

Here's the roadmap for the near future

Four months ago, we talked to Psyonix at PAX West and got a rough overview of the future of Rocket League. Now that we're squarely into 2018, those plans are becoming a lot clearer and a lot more imminent.

Psyonix revealed Rocket League's month-by-month roadmap for the spring, and it's full of additions and improvements. One of the most notable changes is that the Switch version will get performance and quality modes in March. Those who want to prioritize performance will get 60 frames per second at 900p resolution in docked mode and 720p while portable; the quality prioritization is 1080p while docked and 720p while portable, both at 30 frames per second.

There's also plenty of news for competitive-oriented players. The roadmap indicates that single-elimination tournaments should be implemented in March or April. There will be a public tournament beta on Steam sometime in February. Also, on February 7, season 6 ends and season 7 begins. The reward for season 6 is a new set of wheels, and here's what they look like:

As for some hotly-anticipated features like cross-platform parties and Xbox One X enhancements, well, those are still broadly planned for 2018. There's no real word as to when we can expect them, but they should be within the calendar year. Here's everything from Rocket League's new roadmap:
