Riders Republic still looks like my extreme sports jam and it’s out September 2

Riders Republic E.T. shot

50-player mayhem in the national parks

The extreme sports open-world-national-parks multiplayer game Riders Republic resurfaced at the Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 stream, and you know what? As much as Steep couldn’t quite click with me, I’m digging this whole kitchen-sink vibe.

Aside from a gameplay preview during Ubisoft Forward, we also learned the new locked-in, post-delay release date: September 2, 2021. There will be betas, too.

Snowboarding, biking, skiing, jet-boosting with a crazy wingsuit — I don’t care about every discipline, but there are options, and I’m also in for the 50-players-at-once chaos on PC, PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S. (PS4 and Xbox One versions are also coming.)

Modes-wise, Riders Republic has races, trick challenges, arenas, online cups, Mass Start races where everyone descends at once, and Community Jams in which “50+ player events randomly pop up on the map.” As a fan of The Crew, that last one speaks to me.

Multiplayer hijinks are clearly the name of the game, but there will be solo play.

During E3, Ubisoft also confirmed cross-play and cross-progression.
