Last we heard, the latest Resident Evil movie was pushed into 2011 due to extra time being needed to ready it up for the third dimension (OMG 3D OMG!). Basically, you were all terribly distraught by the news, as evidenced by these comments here.
As it turns out, Resident Evil: Afterlife is back on for 2010. As a matter of fact, it’s actually coming out prior to the release date given to us before the initial delay: September 10 is the new day of reckoning. Apparently, the additional work needed for special effects and 3D trickery wasn’t so necessary after all.
ShockTillYouDrop, the Web site that broke the news, also informs us that Afterlife would have been directly competing with Cabin in the Woods, another horror flick (an awesome-looking one at that), for 3D screens had the January 2011 date been finalized. There. Are you happy now, Resident Evil movie fans?
