PSP 3000 is a tough nut to crack, pirates having difficulty

Everybody knows that the PlayStation Portable is a pirate’s wet dream, having been a shining beacon of firmware cracks and homebrew applications since its release. Sony has been intent on fighting the main reason people even still own a PSP, and it seems that the PSP 3000 is putting up the strongest resistance.

PSP Fanboy is declaring the machine “impervious” to hackers, with the system patched to guard against the known exploits that have been used in the past. So far, the best recorded attempt to hack the PSP 3000 is to cheat by putting a PSP Slim’s CPU into the machine. This will create the illusion of a hackable PSP 3000, but output differences between the Slim and the 3000’s features have led to problems with this makeshift solution. 

So, the once fragile PSP appears to have some muscle this time. Of course, as I say this, the thing is probably being hacked to pieces, but there you go. It’s just a shame that the PSP 3000 kind of sucks.
