POLL: Date Everything! is out now. Who is your favorite Dateable?

My honest answer is all of them.

Date Everything! is officially out on all platforms, and I’m dying to know who you’re romancing first. There’s no limit to how many characters you can fall in love with, but I’m sure you’ve got your favorites, and I do too.

There’s really something to love about every single character, even if you only love to hate them, so picking favorites is a tough call with this one. And you can go back to romancing every single one of them soon, but first, let’s talk about who we love just a bit more than the rest.

The first character I really fell in love with was Curt & Rod, the duo behind the curtains you find all around the house. Their banter is endlessly charming, and I genuinely laughed out loud at a lot of their dialogue. They’ve got impeccable chemistry, and I spent a charge every single day to build my relationship with them. If I had to choose one character, it’d be them, although it does feel a bit like cheating since they’re a duo.

Sophia the safe, hidden up in the attic, is another one of my favorites. She reminds me a lot of Emma Frost in Marvel Rivals (same voice actor, so that makes even more sense now) and Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil. She’s scary and intimidating, but also incredibly gorgeous and intriguing. Along the same theme, I feel like I have to mention Nightmare, the literal embodiment of nightmares, whom I can see a lot of players loving. Betty is another character who feels a bit similar, although she’s got a real sweet side once you get to know her.

I’ll admit, the moment I recognized Drysdale’s voice during our first conversation, I knew he’d be one of my favorites, too. I can’t help but fall in love with Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3 over and over again, no matter what form he takes, apparently. At least I can romance everyone else around the house, too, so I don’t have to feel as bad about it.

I’m also a sucker for the characters with emotionally driven stories, like Eddie & Volt. I certainly didn’t expect to get a bit teary-eyed while playing this game, but there’s a specific scene involving these two that genuinely moved me.

I’m not really sure whether I love him or love to hate him, but Doug is another iconic character who comes to mind when I’m thinking of favorites. He seems like a real jerk at first, but there’s actually a lot more to him, depending on how you respond to his dialogue, and he’s also got some of the best genuinely funny lines. He even makes you play the worst game of Sudoku in the world, and it’s as annoying as it is hilarious.

There are also lots of characters I enjoyed having as best friends, like Beverly, Dorian, Zoey Bennett, Reggie, Freddy, and Holly. Admittedly, I did try to romance Dorian the door, but it hasn’t gone well, so I guess you could say he shut things down between us.

I could rave about every single character in this game endlessly, but now I want to know what you think. So, Destructoid, which Dateables are your favorites? Are they any of the ones I mentioned here, or someone I missed? There’s something to love about all 100 characters you can meet around your house, so let us know your thoughts down in the comments!
