Play as Link in Monster Hunter Stories

Zelda and Monster Hunter do the fusion dance again!

The Monster Hunter series has been no stranger to crossover content. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker featured levels that let you tackle iconic beasts and Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate had a lot of unlockable Nintendo costumes for your characters. Monster Hunter: Stories seems to be following suit.

In the upcoming 3DS game, players will be able to unlock Link from The Legend of Zelda and ride on Epona. In today's Japanese Nintendo Direct, some video was shown from the game that had Link traveling with a companion in Majora's mask.

While I've been meaning to get into Monster Hunter for a long time, my heart skipped a few beats when I saw Link in 4: Ultimate. I still have, somehow, not bought the game, but all of these Zelda nods are really making me regret not getting on board.

The game will launch in Japan on October 8, but there hasn't been a release date mentioned for the West. Seeing as how each entry has been localized in one form or another (apart from Frontier), I don't think we'll have to worry about missing out on this.
