Persona 5 Royal saves the best for last with new Joker trailer

Not Joaquin Phoenix

Atlus has been plugging away at fans for a few months now with a string of character trailers, offering us a look at new and returning characters in their upcoming Persona 5 Royal release. Having already checked out Makoto, Futaba, Yusuke, even Goro Akechi, we finally have the trailer for the unflappably cool protagonist, best known to fans by the pseudonym "Joker".

Joker is the lead protagonist of Persona 5, with all of the narrative's events pertaining to the young student and his actions. Joker arrives at Shujin Academy on probation after being falsely accused of assault. Viewed with suspicion by all, matters take a turn for the bizarre when a strange app appears on his mobile on his first day of school. This seemingly simple occurrence will lead to Joker making a host of wonderful new friends, engaging with some bitter enemies, and beginning a dangerous journey with the moral fibre of the very universe at stake.

Here in the new trailer we see our boy cutting loose with new girl Kasumi Yoshizawa, playing pool in P5 Royal's new district Kichijojo and, best of all, working out in the gym, where taskmasters Justine & Caroline ensure that he ain't slacking on leg day. Great stuff.

If that isn't enough for you, then Atlus has released a third trailer for P5 Royal itself, featuring some of the new scenes that will feature aforementioned newcomer Kasumi.

Persona 5 Royal launches in Japan for PS4 on October 31, before heading west in spring 2020.
