Official Mario 25th Anniversary Flipnote Studios site open

To celebrate Super Mario Bros. 25th birthday, Nintendo has opened an official site inviting DSi owners to create their own Mario themed animations. Create a Flipnote between now and November 19th, submit it to Nintendo, and… they’ll do something with it. I’m sure they’ll tell us more soon enough. Nintendo has provided some two audio samples from the original Super Mario Bros. to help you bring your animation to life. There’s also a cute, little sample on the page to help you get your mind moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately, my mind is already going in the wrong direction. I still have some left over images for yesterday’s episode of Destructoid sitting on my desktop, including one of Ron Jeremy as Mario.

You can blame Mario Jeremy if my Mario Flipnote contains some adult content. I’m already grossed out by a few of the ideas that I’ve got brewing.

"Where do dreams end and reality begin? Videogames, I suppose."- Gainax, FLCL Vol. 1 "The beach, the trees, even the clouds in the sky... everything is build from little tiny pieces of stuff. Just like in a Gameboy game... a nice tight little world... and all its inhabitants... made out of little building blocks... Why can't these little pixels be the building blocks for love..? For loss... for understanding"- James Kochalka, Reinventing Everything part 1 "I wonder if James Kolchalka has played Mother 3 yet?" Jonathan Holmes
