No, you don't need 32GB of RAM to run Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Big sigh of relief

The sky(walker) was falling for a short while this morning when EA released the PC requirements for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The minimum specs looked normal enough, but the recommended requirements had one eye-popping detail: You need 32GB of RAM.

That's significant because it's the first game to ever recommend 32GB RAM. Even the most demanding games top out at 16GB RAM. The people who have 32GB in their rig are basically just future-proofing. It's overkill now, but eventually it'll become a necessity. It seems like that time is now.

Actually, no. Developer Respawn Entertainment walked it back and updated the recommended requirements to 16GB RAM. Crisis averted. Order restored. For now. Some day we'll get there, but today is not that day.

Here are the minimum and recommended PC specs to run Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order:

Minimum Specs:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7/8.1/10
  • CPU: AMD -- FX-6100 or equivalent; Intel -- i3-3220 or equivalent
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: AMD -- Radeon HD 7750 or equivalent; Nvidia -- GeForce GTX 650 or equivalent
  • DirectX: 11 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • HDD: 55GB

Recommend Specs:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7/8.1/10
  • CPU: AMD -- Ryzen 7 1700 or equivalent; Intel -- i7-6700K or equivalent
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: AMD -- RX Vega 56 or equivalent; Nvidia -- GTX 1070 or equivalent
  • DirectX: 11 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • HDD: 55GB
