Nintendo’s recent trademark filing in Japan raises eyebrows

Depending on your TV viewing habits as a child, you may forever associate the letters N.O.M with the sound a certain “googly-eyed” Sesame Street character made while smashing cookies against his forehead in a fit of confectionery bliss.

However, if a recent trademark filing has anything to do with it, those letters will soon be the acronym for Nintendo Online Magazine. At this point, no details are known about this potential companion (or replacement) to Nintendo Power — or if it even exists at the moment. Could this be Nintendo’s answer to Sony’s Qore service?

Better yet… should we even care?
