I don’t know if you heard earlier, but it was first said that Wii Speak units came with a one-time activation code linked to that unit, for use with the Wii Speak Channel software download. This means that only those that first purchase it can use it fully, making used units useless.
This brought about several questions. What happens if you lose your number? Or what happens if you acquire a new or replacement Wii console?
GamesIndustry tells us that Nintendo will now offer a replacement code for those situations. Unfortunately, there’s still no word on if they’ll offer codes for a second-hand Wii Speak unit.
From Nintendo:
“Any consumer who may have misplaced their Wii Download Ticket number for the Wii Speak Channel or require a new number following a Wii exchange may contact their local Nintendo Customer Services department, where they can request a replacement Wii Download Ticket number.”
