We've bought 50+million amiibo, too

According to today's financial report, Nintendo profits have dropped 61 percent. The company had hoped to hit a profit of ¥17 billion, but Nintendo’s latest financial results show a net profit for the close of fiscal year of ¥16.5 billion ($149 million USD), which is down from ¥41.8 billion on the same period last year.

Sales of the Nintendo 3DS hardware and accompanying software were 6.79 million and 48.52 million units respectively, with hard- and software for the Wii U securing 3.26 million and 27.36 million units. Sales of digital items, which includes smartphone income, secured ¥5.7 billion, and both card and figure type amiibo shifted 24.70 million and 28.90 million units respectively - that's 53 million combined.

Games like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon sold well, but Nintendo acknowledges that a “lack of major titles” means last year was "energized [by] the entire 3DS"... and the lack thereof has detrimentally impacted upon profits this year. In regards to Wii U, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker continue to sell well, and Fire Emblem Fates has collectively sold 1.84 million copies worldwide.
