Sony and Netflix have partnered up to piss gamers off bring innovation to their Bravia television line. Under this new deal, Netflix subscribers will be able to stream video content to new Netflix-enabled sets this fall.
“Sony has been a world leader in consumer electronics for decades,” said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, in a statement. “We are proud to include Sony Electronics among our CE partners who continue to provide new and exciting ways for Netflix members to instantly watch movies and TV episodes in their living rooms on their TVs.”
That’s great, but what about my Sony PlayStation 3? Would that make too much sense? A ready-to-go user base has everything that’s needed, Sony and Netflix. All you need to do is flip on the switch! What’s holding you up?
Joystiq points out that a timed exclusive with Microsoft may be the case here. In Sony’s statement to Joystiq, they say that they have nothing to announce on any partnership at this time. So maybe we’ll just have to wait a bit. Or watch it on our Xbox 360s and Bravia TVs.
