Mortal Kombat II will return … at some point

Recommended Videos

A few days ago we reported that Mortal Kombat II disappeared entirely from the PlayStation Network. Currently it still isn’t available through the PlayStation Store or even on purchasers’ download lists. Thankfully, there is some decent news on the horizon for those who feel affronted by the issue. Sony is actively working to get the game back up.

1UP was able to grab a response from a Sony representative about the matter:

A Mortal Kombat II specification is being upgraded in connection with the release of the latest firmware update. This is one of our top titles on PlayStation Network, we are working diligently to get this back up on the PlayStation Store.

If you’re confused, feel free to join the club. Did the last firmware update intend to pull MK II from PSN? When will the next firmware update that will include the “specification” be available for consumers? Lastly, why would Sony pull MK II from the store?

We contacted Shao Kahn for comment, but he didn’t reply by press time.
