Feeling blue because a fresh Star Wars game hasn’t hit the market within the last 12 or so hours? Feel free to cheer up with the above, but restrain the excitement: that image is from Free Radical’s canned Star Wars: Battlefront III project — a thing that has managed to stay lifeless despite the attention.

As usual, several more images of the cancelled game have surfaced on the Internet, courtesy of artist portfolios. Web site X Cast Online has a full gallery of fresh images discovered within, created from the work of Samir Battistotti and Allistair Burn.

The images are a bit on the skeletal side — in general, there’s no next-gen sheen or even hardcore textures. There’s a reason for that: in the game, Darth Vader decides to strip the galaxy of all its beauty with a large cannon that uses concentrated Force-power-stuff. He hoped to bring all to his side through visual misery.*

*Just kidding. Game was cancelled — that’s why the images look like Darth Vader’s face.
